I’m absolutely blown away, but I’m able to say that I have been selected to be part of the Leadership Team for the World Scout Jamboree in Poland, 2027!
I’m genuinely surprised by this as I haven’t been in Scouting that long; about 2 and a half years, but only a year and a half in uniform. I went along to the Adult Selection weekend with a view to take from the experience, but not expect anything more – it was purely a learning exercise for me so I know what to expect on future selection camps. Obviously I still wanted to go, but with my lack of experience I didn’t have high hopes.
That being said, I’ve just had a meeting with Lincolnshire Scout’s International team for what was penciled in the calendar as “International Debrief” and they’ve told me they want me on the team! They said that they saw something in me that showed I had good knowledge of Scout procedures, policies and safety, and that I got on really well with the others at the weekend.
Absolutely chuffed to bits, and I’ve also found out that Georgia, Dawn and Kev make up the rest of the team.
This is going to be a fun ride, and 2027 can’t come quick enough!
